The New Hampshire looper enjoyed a hugely successful 2025 on the back of his lyrics. Fresh off his USABC 2025 victory, he shared 3 of his favorite lyrics he’s written.

If there’s one thing Unhinged wants you to know about his songs it’s that it’s not that serious.

“These lyrics, they definitely have meaning, but a lot of them are just, I think it's funny as hell and it's fun just to rap them.”

Whether threatening to smack his opponents or take their girls, or hinting at a habit of beating his meat, Unhinged is on his pen game, making sure that first and foremost his lines make you and him smile.

The 20 year old Littleton, New Hampshire native spent the past year refining his style, and has enjoyed his most successful year as a beatboxer yet. First, he placed top-4 in Swissbeatbox’s Kickback Loopstation battle, then he capped the year by winning the USA Beatbox Loopstation Championship.

His battle against Mace in the final showcased his standout track, Horsin’ Around, which showcases the style Unhinged has focused on over the past two years. Goofy, with a knocking hip hop beat, Horsin’ Around is lyrics-forward and gives space for Unhinged to move from flow to flow and switch cadences throughout the song.

Now titled USA Champion, Unhinged is off to the judging circuit and excited to expand his repertoire. Speaking between the USA Beatbox Championships’ loopstation final and his eventual crowning as champion, he broke down his writing process and a few of his favorite bars he’s written.

On his rapping inspirations…

I gotta say Kendrick, because Kendrick's the goat. I listen to a lot of Tyler, The Creator, but recently, I've been going back and listening to a lot of old Kanye, like, The College Dropout stuff. Earl Sweatshirt [too], but Kendrick and Tyler mainly.

On his writing process…

Usually I come up with my best lyrics at work. I'll be on the shift — I work at Dunkin' Donuts — I'll be like, making coffees and I just think of, like, a stupid joke in my head. Like for Dumb American, my second round against Teal,

“stomp you vermin non stop / back off

Like germaphobes trying the new kebab shop”

Literally that [lyric] just came in my head randomly. That's funny as well. It's like, if I find something I think is funny, I'll just try and go off of it. I usually have one bar, and then I work the rest of the bars around the [original] bar. Or I have a really cool flow concept, and I see what word comes to mind. That's usually what happens.

Can you give an example of the flow concept?

The best example is my round two against Dave Flame, it was

go back to the basics / I'm basically saying

that you should restart if you want to go big.

How ironic it is that you bouta be snapped by a twig while I snap on your bitch

That whole flow sequence I had in my head already, and then it just came down to I just needed lyrics to fit this [pattern].

Favorite bar #1…

When I retire you can find me in the cottage

and I'm cheesing so much it's causing intestinal blockage

I love that bar so much. It flows perfectly and on top of that, it has everything that I want my rap to be. Dumb jokes with fire flow and like a nice little swing to it.

#2…

Horsing Around, has to have something in there. The whole sequence

Im at the top within the decimals, my music is a spectacle

I snipe yo ass with laser sight thats right upon my reticle

#3, funniest of them all…

The last one I'd say,

I'm a dumb American, just yanking my shit

That's just a really good bar!
