In 2018, the Beatbox Battle World Championship was in a very different state. See what I had to say for the last world champs.
I wrote about the upcoming Beatbox Battle World Championships on Wednesday, and I continue to marvel at how much has changed since the last world champs in 2018. So I went back and read my (lengthy) preview for the 2018 champs. It was a long feature considering the state of beatbox in 2018, and a prognostication for what was to come.
My editorial policy is that if I find something interesting, you might too. It was fun to look back and see what I was right and wrong about. I was fairly wide-eyed at the time, and I don’t think there was much critical consideration of the people and organizations in question. Still, this snapshot in time is an important reminder of how quickly things can change, and also how freaking cool beatbox is. Hope you enjoy!
